English is the official language of instruction at Bay River College. All applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency to be considered for admission to a program.
Bay River College, Inspiring Lives, Transforming Futures

Acceptable English tests must be provided by international students that meet or exceed Canadian and international standards. For the international students, there is a requirement of IELTS score of 5.5 (Academic) or similar assessment tests to be eligible for the admission at Bay River College.

We also accept other assessment tests including TOEFL, CAEL, CLB, PTE, Duolingo, ESOL, and more. In certain situations, like obtaining a post-secondary or high school diploma in English, you could potentially meet the eligibility criteria.

Provide proof of English proficiency, if English is not the first language in your country. You must have one of the following equivalencies to our Wonderlic BST Admissions Entry test:

  • IELTS: Minimum 5.5 in Academic
  • TOEFL: Minimum score required would be 500 (PBT) on the written, or 173 (CBT) on the computer based version.
  • PTE: Minimum 60
  • CAEL: Minimum 60
  • CLB: Minimum 7
  • Duolingo: Minimum 95
  • Wonderlic: Minimum 310

However, if your High School Diploma (or equivalent) was instructed in English, a TOEFL or IELTS score would not be required. Exceptions are considered, but not guaranteed, for those students who attended a non-English speaking high school, but attended a post-secondary educational facility instructed in English.

Students from eligible countries who do not meet the English language requirements may be offered a conditional acceptance into College Diploma programs upon successful completion of Level 10 of an Intensive English Course.

For more details please Contact your advisor and describe your personal situation and/or your tests results.
